SEO – Essential For Your Marketing

Marketing is key for any business to succeed, have a good strategy can be the difference between making or breaking a business.

Over the last decade the use of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) has become increasingly important. For many businesses it is one of the main ways they generate business and gain new customers. Many different companies, from all different sectors, are deciding to employ SEO specialists – one good example is the in SEO for dentists.

So why is search engine optimisation key for any business?

Optimise Your Reach

People put a lot of trust in search engines. If for example google has Pete’s Pizza as the number one result for a search, then people automatically think it must be at the top because it is good. The the person heads to Pete’s, eats there, shares the link with his buddies and they also click it. The law of multiplication can go quickly, so in no time at all there are a dozen or so teens at Pete’s Pizza. It’s all down to the search engine matching what the user searched for – in this case it pointed to Pete’s.

Optimise Conversion Rates

SEO will attract people that are already ready looking for your type of product or service. You don’t have to be shouting from the roof tops or pulling some outrageous stunt – these people are already sold on the product/need and that’s why they’re searching for it. So you just have to make sure that you’re in the top 5 results and then you’re going to see a huge spike in your sales.

Insight Into Your Clients

If you have google analytics, and every site should have it, then you will be able to get some valuable information about your customers. With a good SEO strategy you will see the number of clients that visit your site increase. SO it’s your chance to to get information such as; what browser they use, which keywords, tech they have, where in the world they live, when they are most on line and how much time they spend looking at your page.

How has your experience been with SEO? Please do write your experiences down in the comment box below this article. I love it when we, as a community, are able to share tips and tales that will help others. I am looking forward to reading everything you have to share guys!

Feeling Groggy in the Morning? Here’s The Cure

There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning feeling as though you don’t want to do anything other than pull the covers back over. The reason for this however is not because you are a lazy person, but rather because of the way in which you live your life and the habits which you are doing, or not doing, that cause you to have such low energy on a morning.

If you are sick and tired of waking up with low energy levels and a groggy feeling, here is what you can do to ensure that you wake up with bags full of energy.

Alarm Clock

In terms of your alarm clock there are 2 tips which you should employ to ensure that you wake up and get up. The first step is to place your alarm clock away from the bed, or at least out of reach, so that you must get up to switch it off. The second step is to make sure that the alarm is some music which you like rather than the harsh alarm tone. The classic alarm tone is enough to bring fear or dread to anyone, the last thing which you’d want when you just wake up.

Make Coffee

When I wake up, the first mission in my mind is to make myself a cup of Joe. I do this for two reasons, the first of course being that caffeine offers a great energy boost to your morning. The second reason why I like to fire up the French press first thing is because the activity of grinding the beans, adding water and using the French press coffee maker is something which gets my brain started and in gear for the day.

Go Natural

Before you go to bed, make sure that you open up our curtains and blinds so that you can let the sun flood into your room on a morning. We are animals after all and the sunlight is one of the best ways to wake up and feel ready for the day ahead.

Routine

If you wake up and go to sleep at more or less the same time each night, you can train your brain to unwind when it’s time to sleep, and wake itself up before you do. This kind of routine is one of the best ways to get yourself up and ready for the new day, with bags of energy.

Water

Try drinking some water before you go to bed so that when you wake up, you will feel the need to go to the bathroom, thus forcing you to get up. Equally, when you first wake up, the first thing on your lips should be a glass of water, the perfect way to get your body functions up and running for the new day.

If you are able to employ some of these tactics then you will find that after just a week or so, you will wake up with plenty of energy and no grogginess at all.

Clothing choice for an interview is so important and if you get it right then you can greatly boost your chances of getting the job. You only have one chance to make a first impression and so you must ensure that your clothes make the impression that you want. There is a well known saying that you should dress for the job which you are going for, and not the one which you currently have and if you can do this then you will pass the first test of the interview.

As we have just mentioned, first impressions are highly important and this first instance when you meet your interviewer, is your chance to let them know that you are a worthy candidate for the position. Be confident with your greeting, a firm handshake, a big smile and an introduction. This will not only give you the confidence to be strong throughout your meeting but it will also ensure that you let  them know that you are looking forward to the interview.

Calmness

Throughout the interview it is vital that you stay calm and so you should make sure that you are breathing slowly, speaking with clarity and in a way that can be understood. When you are asked a question, don’t jump straight in, take your time and think about your answer before replying.

Information

One piece of homework which you simply must do if you before you go into your interview is to do some research on the company itself. Arm yourself with information about the history of the firm, its challenges and successes and think about how you will fit into it all. If you do this then will show the interviewer that you are a candidate who cares enough to do their research and who understands the shape and the way in which the business operates.

Stay calm and sell yourself, you will be just fine.

Yoga possesses so many benefits and one of which is its ability to improve your concentration. Concentration is something which helps in so many aspects of your life, it can help you in your work, in your personal life and in general it can help you to become a more effective and more organized person.

So how can this form of exercise aid you when it comes to concentration? Let’s take a look at the ways in which yoga can help you out when it comes to your ability to concentrate.

Salutation Seal

This is a simple breathing exercise which can help you to clear the airways, get oxygen flowing to the brain, clear your mind and ultimately help you to better concentrate. Sit cross-legged on the floor and place your hands as if you were praying. In this position you simply need to take deep breaths and try your best to clear your mind with each breath.

Alternate Nostril Breathing

Another breathing exercise which can help to flush the cobwebs out of your mind. Sit in the same position as the salutation seal, legs crossed, use your thumb to close off one nostril at a time and take deep breaths before switching nostrils. After 5 minutes of this, you need to close your right nostril and inhale, then switch to the left nostril and exhale, repeat this for at least 10 minutes.

Crane Pose

For this pose you must get into a squat position with your feet shoulder-width apart and place your palms in front of you on the floor. Gradually tilt your body weight forward and hold the position as you take deep breaths. Eventually you should be aiming to bring your feet off the floor as you inhale and exhale.

Tree Stand

Another balancing position is the tree stand, these balance positions are great for concentration practice. Stand up straight, legs shoulder-width apart, bend your right knee and take it with both hands. Gain your balance and then hold this position for 30 seconds before alternating legs. The key to this is form and you should aim to hold your balance with excellent form, feet facing forward and head straight.

Blockfolio – a review

Cryptocurrency is one of the hottest topics in the world right now and this new form of currency looks set to change the shape of things to come. From what started out as a pipe dream, cryptocurrency like Bitcoin has proven to the world that it is a able alternative to traditional money and more and more investors and businesses are getting on board with the varying cryptocurrencies that are out there.

As an indication of this, Bitcoin’s price has risen in just over 4 years from a value of around $40 each, to $5000 each, a huge increase which nobody saw coming. Thanks to this increase in popularity and knowledge of cryptocurrencies, more people are looking to get i on the action and today we are going to review an application which allows you to buy Bitcoin, direct from your phone. Let’s take a look at Blockfolio to see how it stacks up.

What is it?

The idea of this application is to offer users full management of their cryptocurrency portfolio, users can check prices in real time, manage their investments as well as being able to buy and sell cryptocurrency in the drop of a hat.

Interface

Having made my way through 5 or 6 of these types of applications already, I was very happy to find that the interface on Blockfolio was far more user friendly than its competitors. Here you will see no aggressive advertisements or annoying pop-ups, but instead a well put together and non-congested overview of what is going on with your investments. The menus and the categories are easy to see, you can simply filter various searches and all-in-all, the inert face is super easy to use and friendly on the eyes too.

Alerts

I love the fact that the application will allow you to set alerts for when the prices of your investments or your potential investments move up and down. Simply set your alert for a certain dollar amount and you can sleep safely knowing that the app will wake you up should anything go up or down.

Holdings

The holdings section of the app is really the best place togged an overview of your positions and in a one page image, you can see exactly what is going on. As with other areas of the app, it is the simplicity which makes Blockfolio so good and I love the fact that it shows your gains and losses at the top of the screen to keep you on point.

Additional Features

Unlike the competition, Blockfolio features a really extensive news section of the app which you can filter into whichever crypto you are looking to find out about. I have not had any dealings with customer service but they look simple enough to get in contact with and you can find a phone number and  email address within the application.

Overall Score

I absolutely lobe this app and I have been using it for around 5 months now without a single glitch, I can manage my portfolio easily and the app seamlessly does everything that it says it will, I give this 5 stars and I would encourage you to download it.

How many credit cards should you have?

A 2016 study carried out by Gallup, found that around 3 out of 4 households in the USA have at least one credit card, in spite of this popularity of taking credit, managing it is a very different story. In fact, a 2015 investigation from Nerd Wallet, actually found that the average household credit card debt was as high as $15,000. These statistics do beg the question then, how many credit cards should you have.

The answer to this question comes down to responsibility, and how well you are able to manage your credit card debt. Assuming you are not very good at managing debt, the answer is 0 or 1 at the very most and the 1 should have a low limit so that you can learn to better manage. Assuming that you are a responsible person when it comes to your finances, multiple cards are a great idea and here is why.

Reap The Benefits

For those who are able to among their credit cards, one of the best reason to use multiple cards is to be able to reap the rewards which come with using credit cards. Different credit card companies will offer different benefits for usage, some may offer or miles, others may offer benefits and discounts and some will allow you to amass points with you can then use in lieu of actual cash. Using multiple credit cards can really help you to make the most of all of the offers available.

Boosting Your Credit Score

When you use more than one credit card, your FICO score is greatly impacted and it helps to improve your debt-to-credit utilization ratio which is how FICO measure how much credit you can get. This is of course assuming that you are able to manage multiple credit cards and meet at the very least, the minimum payment each month.  If you are looking to take out larger credit in the future for a big purchase, then using multiple credit cards can put you in a strong position to do just that.

Easier Bookkeeping

If you are self-employed or urn your own business then you could use a different credit card for each are alf your life so that you can not only reap the benefits of rewards and improve your overall credit score, but also so that they become much easier to manage. If you are able to view one credit card statement and instantly know that it was for business expenses, rather than poring over each statement to highlight which purchase was for which aspect of your life, then this will make your life a great deal easier.

Conclusion

In short then, the truth is that if you are able to manage your debt in a responsible way, you should take as many credit cards as possible so that you can enjoy the benefits. If you re not responsible then keep it to a minimum, or none at all.

Education 0 comments on Is a PHd worth it?

Is a PHd worth it?

In terms of investing your time and your money, a PhD is a huge commitment and one which will see you take 3 additional years in your education and these will be 3 incredibly intense years of your studying life. Those who do have a PhD are said to have a better chance of gaining a job at the end of it and there is of course the additional respect that one who completes this will receive. The question remains however that with such time and money that you need to invest, is a PhD actually worth it? Let’s take a look to see whether or not the rewards at the end of a PhD study, are worth what you need to put in to achieve it.

Employment Prospects

One of the most common reason why people invest their time and their finances into a PhD is because they think that they will have a better chance of high quality employment once they have qualified. The statistics certainly show that those with PhDs are highly employable and a total of 85.7% of PhD graduates are currently in employment, after removing those who have shunned work for personal reasons, that leaves a very small percentage of people who are unemployed in spite of their PhD. However, a recent study has shown that of those 85.7% that are employed, just 42% of them are actually doing jobs that they want which begs the question as to whether or not a PhD is the golden ticket that many think it is, the stats would suggest not.

Career Types

The majority of careers which are attained after a PhD course are education and the sciences and the majority of PhD students will find careers in these areas. With this being said, may areas that only elected PhD students in the past, academia for example, have now opened their net further which means less opportunity for those who have invested an extra 3 years into their education.

Additional Skills

PhD students will learn a great many transferable skills throughout their course and they will end up specializing in things like teaching, publication, professional networking, research, public speaking and project management. Generally speaking, PhD students will leave their education as a more rounded and knowledgeable person than someone who has not studied for the additional time that a PhD student has.

Should You Do It?

As to whether or not you should invest your time and money into those additional 3 years will ultimately come down to what career you have in mind for once you have completed your education. If you re looking for a career as a university professor or a professional in the scientific research field, then yes, a PhD will favor you once you leave education. There are however, many career which do not require this and you would be better off investing those 3 years in a job as opposed to pushing for higher education. The choice comes down to which career you are looking for, what you are trying to achieve and how much money you are willing to spend. One thing that is for certain however, is that a PhD is no longer what it once was.

Self-Improvement 0 comments on Online courses vrs ‘real’ study – which is better?

Online courses vrs ‘real’ study – which is better?

Along with many other areas of life, the internet has drastically changed the face of education and it has made actually going to school, college or university, something that is not necessarily required. Distance learning is nothing new but the internet has made it more effective, more accessible and faster than it has ever been and this has helped it to see a huge rise in the amount of people choosing this form of education. The question remains however, which is the best route to take if you are looking to boost your education or to replace it entirely.

Reputation

As far as stigmas go, distance learning has always been less respected by employers than someone who has been to a brick learning institute and this is largely because of how distance learning was in the past. Opinions are changing on this front but as it stands, those who have studied at a physical learning institute, are more likely to have their degrees or qualifications valued than those who have studied online.

The Qualification

Despite the stigma that distance learning has, the qualifications which you receive are exactly the same as those which you could gain in a ‘real study’ environment. Degrees, diplomas and certificates are ratified by the board of education and if you are studying for the same course, it is irrelevant whether you have studied online, in a school or in a university.

Quality

The internet has enabled people to connect from all over the world and this has lead to far better and higher quality educational material existing online. Take something like the Khan Academy for instance, a free online learning tool which uses information and study materials from the world’s finest universities. In terms of the quality of the education that you will receive, there is very little difference between studying online, and actually going to an educational institute.

Personal

There are actually ore challenges for people who wish to study online as opposed to those who do not and this is because of the discipline which is required. Without the need to attend lectures and have someone constantly managing and checking your work, one must be incredibly self-disciplined to earn an education online. When you study online you will still receive a tutor and someone who is on hand to help , but it is far less hands-on than at a brick educational facility and for many, the prospect of doing it all themselves is not something which they’d like to do.

Conclusion

In terms of how the education is viewed by prospective employers, a brick education is still the best way to go and those who have studied online will be considered second best until opinions change. In terms of the actual education that you can receive, online methods seem to be winning in those stakes given that they use information from a wider range of sources. The answer to the question therefore is that there is not much different at all in the two methods of education.

Books 0 comments on The 4hww – a review

The 4hww – a review

In 2007 a new book hit the shelves that turned author Tim Ferriss into a New York Times’ Best Selling author, and a spokesperson for those who refuse to enter  the rat race, or at least for those looking to escape it. Since its release the book has been translated into over 35 languages and sold over 1,350,000copies worldwide. The book has been met with much critical acclaim whilst at the same time many have branded the author as nothing more than a dreamer who has allowed his ego to be splurged onto paperback for the world to relish in. What can not be argued with is the impact which this book has had and if you have not yet read the book, here is a quick review to whet your appetite.

The Basics

The premise of the book is to promote lifestyle design, the notion that one can control their own hours, their own responsibilities and their own times. Ferriss gives readers a wide selection of tools and tips for how they can quite the rat race and free up more time to focus on the things that are important in life. At the time of writing. Ferriss was working 14-hours per day in his sports nutrition supplement company BrainQUICKEN and he was frustrated about the amount of time which he was investing in work, in comparison to how much time he could spend on being a better human.

Tools and Tricks

In reality the tools and the nuggets of advice which are given out in this book is nothing that a life coach could not have told companies and wealthy individuals in the past, what Ferriss does however is to compile them all together in one package. There are some tools of the trade which can be easily implemented and the author makes a strong case for outsourcing responsibilities and managing your time in a more effective manner. The question that remains is just how this can be translated to any type of person, in any particular job, it perhaps can not. This however who are pretty independent already, can massively benefit from the new ways of working which this book offers.

Conclusion

This book hit shelves just as digital nomads around the world were beginning to realize that there was an alternative way of living and that the traditional 9-5 was no longer a requirement. The internet age played perfectly into the hands of the book and it could be argued that this book did nothing more than rode the crest of a wave which was already on its way to shore. The 4 Hour Work Week is not revolutionary but it is incredibly profound and has resonated with many who say no to the daily grind. The book has smart ideas which can work very effectively and can really change people’s lives, as to whether it can be applied to everyone however, is not quite clear. A well crafted book with great intentions and written with the hunger and ego that more of us should use in our daily lives.
